Screenwriting and Social Issues (part 2): Dylan Marron

Every Single Word - thescriptblog.com

Let’s talk about screenplay. Let’s talk about race.

I was lucky enough to attend a chat with Dylan Marron at the fantastic Independent Filmmaker Project‘s Film Week last September. What Dylan, an actor and a writer, showed to us was very simple and extremely revealing. His blog, called Every Single Word, is a video series that edits down popular films to only feature the words spoken by people of color.”

Nicely done. Dylan’s simple technique brings into the open an inconvenient reality that needs addressing.

You’ll find lots more of revealing videos at everysinglewordspoken.tumblr.com.

Plus more about Dylan at washingtonpost.com and theguardian.com.
